  • 3rd Friday - 7:00 pm - SIP (Seasoned Independent People)

Many LGBTQIA+ seniors struggle with loneliness and isolation; they are often without family, and they are almost twice as likely to live in poverty and experience food insecurity than the general population. To help combat this social isolation, the Lexington Pride Center hosts a monthly dinner for Lexington’s LGBTQIA+ seniors, giving them an opportunity to share a delicious meal and socialize with their peers.

While SIP started as a meal for people over 50, it has evolved into an intergenerational meal with all ages welcome and encouraged to attend. Our older SIP attendees love connecting and forming bonds with the younger generation providing connection and community. It is a special time of connection where our heroes, leaders and pioneers in the queer movement for equality pass down their experiences, life stories and wisdom to the younger generation. SIP is one of the only LGBTQIA+ recurring groups in Central Kentucky for LGBTQIA+ seniors.

  • 1st Saturdays - 7:30 pm - TransKentucky

TransKentucky is a social support group for transgender and gender non-binary people, where you can share amongst peers struggles and goals. People in the group share more than emotional support; mental, medical and other providers are recommended by transgender people for transgender people. Members help each other find housing, jobs, and support one another in order to help navigate life in the Lexington and Central Kentucky area. Members of TransKentucky come from all walks of life, and at all stages within their transitions. It starts an opportunity for people to be seen and heard, but becomes a network of people to support, guide and stand by you during your transition and beyond. Supportive friends and family are welcome to come, as long as they hold the space for queer voices. We empower trans voices to rise in our community.
